Latest News - Experiences of New Heads
A team from LCLL was commissioned by the National College to undertake a research study to investigate how urban school leaders are prepared for headship and the challenges and experiences they face during the first year. Heads were observed carrying out their day to day activities which informed research findings on how they spent their time. The key findings from the research are applicable to new heads in a variety of contexts. Case study heads commented that being observed was a valuable form of leadership development which encouraged reflection on practice.
At the LCLL we offer all new heads this unique opportunity to be shadowed/observed for a day using our schedule of activities. You will receive an analysis of your day when your time usage is compared with other heads. You will engage in a post-observation interview to discuss your data and discuss ways forward to ensure your time is used to best effect and support you o focus on the things that matter to you!
